So what can you do if some idiots in the planning department stuff up where you are supposed to build the building? In this amazingly weird story, some government offices were constructed in the wrong plot of land and now the entire building had to be moved to another spot. Which begs even more stupidity. I mean why correct a mistake with yet another weird solution? Wouldn’t it be easier just to allow the two buildings to swap lands and get the idiot who made the mistake to pay for any compensation?

Maybe our friend Datuk Zakaria can learn a few tricks from these Chinese engineers.

IF you think moving house is a big headache, then take comfort that you don’t have to move an entire building. This seemingly-impossible feat is what Xiamen authorities now have to pull off, after a slight glitch in their urban planning blueprint.

According to Xinhua, officials of the city in China’s Fujian province realised that the government building they had recently erected was in the wrong spot. A tad too late.

The land it was sitting on had already been reserved for another building.

However, it was deemed too costly to demolish the brand new development so the authorities decided to move the entire 5,000 tonne structure instead.

Not only does it have to be dragged 60m to its new home, the building also has to be turned 45 degrees. Engineers have designed rails on which the building can slowly be shifted into its new position, after it has been lifted by floor jacks.

The chief engineer of this undertaking, Mr Wang Ya Yong, said: ‘This is definitely the first project of such scale in Xiamen, and probably one of the very few in China.’
