Husband was with her having a romantic midnight celebration. But the woman also did not hang up on the colleague and even gave him a chance to blow kisses do send the wrong message to the curious husband which eventually led to her assault.
So a word of advice for all. Don’t “pray pray” during Valentine’s day.
KUALA TERENGGANU: A phone call from a male colleague on Valentine’s Day turned a saleswoman’s celebration with her husband into a nightmare when her husband assaulted and held a knife against her, accusing her of having a secret affair.
The night began romantically enough with the couple having a candlelit dinner at their home in Kampung Simpang Tok Ku, Chabang Tiga, here on Tuesday night.
When the clock struck midnight, the 27-year-old woman’s handphone rang and a male colleague whispered Valentine wishes and even blew her kisses as her curious husband eavesdropped.
Incensed, the self-employed husband, 27, grabbed the phone and hurled it away before slapping and hitting her, even as she tried to explain that her colleague was just pulling her leg.
Deaf to her explanations, the furious man ran into the kitchen and returned with a knife, threatening to kill her. The frightened woman ran out of the house and went straight to the police station and made a report.
State CID chief Assistant Comm Mohd Hazam Abd Halim said police were investigating the matter.
The husband fled his home after realising that a police report had been made against him while the woman received outpatient treatment at Hospital Nur Zahirah the same day, said ACP Mohd Hazam.
